In November, Air Transport Regional (TAR) will begin operations in Guadalajara to open flights to Puerto Vallarta as announced by the Jalisco Secretary of Tourism, Enrique Ramos Flores.

The announcement was made during the celebration of World Tourism Day in noting that the new airline is betting on the success in connecting the popular Puerto Vallarta destination to Guadalajara, the state capital of Jalisco, in offering more competitive user fees than the existing traditional companies.

The official said the new airline has confidence in the recovery of tourism in the country of Mexico, thus it began operations on the eve of the winter holiday period, with the intention that travelers from Guadalajara are linked to this important and nearby beach destination of Jalisco state.

The Executive Director TAR, Enrique Salvador Guerrero Nieto, noted that Guadalajara is the second most popular center of operations in Mexico and providing links to other cities will provide extended access which will open routes to other cities for travelers. The intention is to continue growing over the next year in markets that have been neglected from the other airlines and to consolidate Mexicana routes with high demand.

"We want to enhance the cultural tourism, city, and regional levels and will open routes that are needed in the market with an affordable price," he said, adding that the "national tourism market will continue to grow and is recovering steadily after the 2009 crisis."

Puerto Vallarta is the first beach destination to receive TAR flights from Guadalajara, with the intent to open others from Querétaro, Toluca and Mexico City.

The Jalisco Secretary of Tourism was pleased that the airline industry entrepreneurs are betting on Puerto Vallarta and that it is a sign of trust from the national tourist and aviation organizations in consolidating the advances that have been made.
