Four Days of Events in Puerto Vallarta for Mexico's Independence Celebration AZ Noticias

From September 13-16, Puerto Vallarta will be alive with four days of Mexican folklore tradition as part of the national celebrations of Mexico's Independence across the country. The city of Vallarta has prepared a diverse program with civic, arts and cultural events as announced by Sergio Zepeda Moreno, Director of the Vallarta Institute of Culture (IVC).

Kicking off the festivities on Friday, September 13, there will be a civic ceremony honoring the Young Heroes (los Niños Héroes) in the Pitallal town square. "It is important to begin the nationwide celebration in honoring our members of the Ministry of Defense and the Navy," stated the official.

Later on the same day at 6:00 pm, you are invited to the Lighthouse area of the Malecon (el faro del malecón) where you will be entertained by local singers who will perform classic Mexican and Ranchero music, followed at 8:00 by the Wings Acadamy of Music (Academia de Canto 'Alas') with a concert including a potpourri of Mexican music.

In the same location at 9:00 pm, there will be a presentation of music by 'Chocolate' and 'Palomar' where everybody is invited to join in the dancing. "It will be a night of music and dancing with excellent musicians as they play a repertoire of dance music including salsa and merengue to get everybody up and dancing."

The traditional Charro Parade will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 14, along the Malecon. Get there early to reserve your space as the local Charro groups of Puerto Vallarta celebrate National Charro Day with the Mexican cowboys, cowgirls and children on their beautiful horses showcasing their talents.

"This is an annual parade and this year we will include the presentation of awards to the youngsters who recently won the National Charro Competitions in Guadalajara," stated Zepeda Moreno.

At about 6:00 pm, the Charro groups will be present along the Malecon with the so-called 'Floreo de Salón' (lots of display) and also, in the Lighthouse area, singers Blanca Vidal, Ramiro Hernández and Eli Vázquez will perform regional Mexican music.

At 8:00 pm in the same area, the 'Miss Puerto Vallarta' pageant will be held and the young woman will be crowned to represent Vallarta. Singer Mariano Barba will entertain at the close of this event.

On Sunday. September 15, activities begin with the civic ceremony in the square at 8:00 am where they will sing all the verses of the Mexican Anthem, marking the CLIX anniversary, with the participation of the whole Vallarta community including civil and military authorities.

At 6:00 pm, singers Sergio Padilla, Anel del Valle and Martín Madero, will be on stage at the Lighthouse with Mexican music and at 9:00 pm, 'Vallarta Azteca' folkloric ballet will fill this celebration with colorful traditional dance leading to the official ceremony of the Proclamation of Independence, at the City Hall. After the "Grita" (traditional 'Scream of Dolores') and repeated 'Viva Mexico' chants, the attendees will enjoy the spectacle of fireworks and mariachi music.

The celebrations end on September 16 with the Civil Parade coordinated by Military Zone 41, in downtown Puerto Vallarta. On this day,  artistic activities will be presented in the Los Arcos area of the Malecon and at 5:00 pm, the group 'La Boquita' will entertain. Following at 6:00 pm, local singers Karla Yolanda, Paulino Ávalos and Martín Rodríguez will delight the crowds.

To close the festivities with a flourish, the 'Xiutla' municipal dance troup will entertain beginning at 8:00 pm with traditional Mexican dance.

"It will be four days of festivities highlighting our Mexico traditions in all the different art forms celebrating our heritage," concluded Sergio Zepeda Moreno.
