'Support for Schools' Project Donates Computer to Elementary School in La Cruz Jennifer Brinckmann - Amigos de La Cruz

On Wednesday, August 28, in a general meeting of the Padre de Familias, Amigos Aruna Piroshki, Joan Gil, John Moss and Maria Elena Gomez Vargas presented the Escuela Primaria Juan Escutia (elementary school) with a donated desktop computer.

The school’s Directora of the afternoon session, Citlaly Escobedo Moreno, spoke on behalf of staff and students, thanking the Amigos for their generous gift.

The donation was part of the Amigos Support For Schools Project, which in past years has donated several computers and most recently has given support and donations towards the construction of a badly needed bathroom.

The project, headed by John Moss, is nearing final completion and was recently acknowledged by the Secretary of Public Education and by the school.

The Amigos were  proud to receive a certificate "Por: su noble labor de beneficencia a esta institución durante el cicle escolar 2012-2013" ("For your noble work as supporters of this institution during the school year 2012-2013.")

The bathroom can be seen close to the Pompano and Sierra corners of the school, which is located at the Bucerias end of Calle Coral.

An impressive part of the meeting was the presentation by maestro Luis A. Villalobos Herrera in which he discussed the importance of raising money and recruiting volunteers for continued maintenance of the school, including the new bathroom.

Many thanks go out to Jim Keil for his generous donation of the computer, to Eduardo Miranda, Proprietor of Compu-Elecrónica, who donated his time to refurbish the unit and to Aruna, Joan, John, Maria Elena and all the other Amigos who do so much to make a difference in La Cruz.
