Riviera Nayarit Continues to Break Summer Tourist Occupancy Records OVC of Riviera Nayarit

According to the monthly numbers of tourism indicators submitted to the Visitors & Conventions Office (OVC) of Riviera Nayarit, the average occupancy was 85% from July 1 to August 8, 2013.

This year, Riviera Nayarit has recorded the highest average occupancy rate in the last six years.

• 2008: 84.63%
• 2009: 73.9%
• 2010: 72.4%
• 2011: 77.54%
• 2012: 80.69%
• 2013: 85%

These occupancy averages confirm that the work of the OVC of Riviera Nayarit yields direct benefits, which gradually reflected in Nayarit welfare for all, as noted by the Governor of the People, Roberto Sandoval Castaneda.

"We are excited because this has been the best summer for the past six years. The market has responded positively to the advocacy work we do from this office and we have recovered, thanks to the loyalty of our supporters," said Marc Murphy, Director of the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Riviera Nayarit.

The increase in average occupancy also meant a higher influx of tourists, as the number of rooms in the destination has increased from 2008 to date. Thus, while in July 2008 there were 156,880 visitors, in July 2013 the number was 180,654.

"The degree of satisfaction of our guests is generally above nine points out of a potential of ten. While efforts continue in ongoing training and product improvement, the quality offered to visitors is good, plus we measure by category and, for example, this past July, the feeling of safety of tourists was again evaluated at 9.7 points. That helps us a lot," concluded Murphy.
