Puerto Vallarta took first place for medical tourism in Mexico in 2012, beating out even Cancun and the Riviera Maya.
Mexico is now in the top five countries for medical tourism at the international level, due to the high quality medical care available, top notch hospitals, and great post-operative care.
Medical tourism is definitely on the rise around the world, and Puerto Vallarta is seeking to advance to first place in all of Latin America for 2013.
A new committee was recently appointed to promote the city as a quality alternative for medical care. The committee is to consist of representatives from seven of the most important hospitals, as well as well-known business people from the area.
Typically this type of tourism means a family trip, a hospital visit of a minimum of three days to receive care for medical issues, a stay at a prestigious hotel, and relaxation in the sun and at the beach with family members during convalescence, which often prolongs the stay to 10 days or more.
Why not take a medical vacation in beautiful Puerto Vallarta?
