There is a plan now underway to remodel Puerto Vallarta's Marina and make it a viable competitor for the tourism that as of now makes its way mainly to the city's downtown.
Marina Vallarta currently has many attractions, including views of the yachts, businesses, restaurants, bars, cafés, and galleries, but has seen some decline in recent years.
The remodel will seek to upgrade the Marina's boardwalk and the storefronts of some of the businesses and restaurants, in order to attract new brands, new investors, and new tourist attractions.
The idea is to model the change after successful marinas around the world, such as the ones in Miami, Barcelona, and Los Cabos. These offer clean, wide, well-lit areas, and provide a variety of gourmet restaurants, world-class jewelers, famous designer boutiques, upscale salons, luxury vehicle dealerships, and other businesses that attract tourists with high purchasing power.
