As part of the program of Children's Tourism Culture, the Secretary of Tourism in Jalisco (Setujal) has announced a tour in association with the Day of the Child, with the intention of raising awareness for the children.

Taking place today, Ludwig Estrada, Regional Tourism Director, reported that 300 children who hold the appointment of "Guardians of National Heritage" will participate in the activity.

The schools involved in the program will be the Primary Schools 20 de Noviembre and Cuauhtémoc, along with the Secondary School Number 29.

These students will become aware of the many tourist attractions that our city of Puerto Vallarta has to offer and why it is so important to get to know the city and maintaining these areas in attracting more visitors.

Estrada recalled that this activity takes place every year in the different municipalities of the region, through guided tours to the main tourist attractions, thus is done to foster the awareness of students in tourism, awakens their curiosity and encourages interest in these activities.

The Setujal Official commented that within the framework of World Tourism Day, celebrated in September, the "Guardians of National Heratage" are appointed each year that will perform the different activities in the municipalities that make up the Northern Coast of Jalisco.

On other occasions, this group has visited San Sebastián de el Oeste, Mascota, Talpa and even Cabo Corrientes and Tomatlán as part of a tourist area that complements our interior areas and beaches.

Several generations of children and students have become aware of what the Puerto Vallarta area provides and the importance of knowing the environment and getting familiar with the tourism industry.

In this sense, Estrada continued that these programs provide the basic knowledge structure in providing future work and benefits for the children, and also education on the environmental care of our community for future generations.

The guided tour will begin in Hidalgo Park and continue south along the Malecon, ending with a visit to the new Los Muertos Pier in Old Town Vallarta.
