Hero Taxi Driver Returns Forgotten Wallet to Puerto Vallarta Tourist Laura Quiroz - Vallarta Opina

Donna Scala, originally from Napa Valley, California, who has many friends in the Puerto Vallarta area and is a frequent visitor, sent a letter to Vallarta Opina about an amazing event that happened to her during her last visit to our city.

Ms. Scala says that many women have a secret desire to be bailed out by an exceptional hero. This came true for her while vacationing in Puerto Vallarta.

Donna was staying at Dreams Resort, formerly the Camino Real Hotel, just south of Vallarta.

During her stay, she was invited to visit some friends at their condominium in Litibu, Nayarit, so she took one of the taxis from the hotel and gave the address to the driver. When they reached the condo development, she paid the taxi driver, exited the cab and went to the lobby entrance of the condos.

When she tried to enter through the lobby door, it was locked and there was no security guard to let her in, so she waited outside for somebody to assist her.

She was surprised to see the taxi return that had driven her from the Dreams Resort, a very long distance.

Even more surprising was that he got out of the taxi holding her wallet in his hand and handed it to her. Donna had no idea that she had dropped her wallet in the backseat of the taxi.

We all know what a nightmare it is to lose your purse or wallet and have to immediately notify banks to cancel credit cards and return home to replace driver's license, insurance cards and other important documents.

Donna was thrilled by the honesty of Juan, the taxi driver, and thanked him verbally and with an extra tip. In addition to having a little more than $1,500 US in cash (almost 20,000 pesos), her passport, credit cards, and other important documents were in the wallet.

For that reason, Donna sent the letter to Vallarta Opina commending Juan on his heroic act and letting everybody know what a gentleman he is.
