We have seen many in our 26 years of serving you at Archie's Wok:  marriage proposals, fatal attractions, dream house purchases, family reunions; that glass of red wine accidentally served on your new shirt rather than on the table; our logo exquisitely colored at the table by local artists…there is no end to the stories!
 
And your story?  Now, you can win dinner for 4 or other prizes by simply posting a story or anecdote of your most memorable time spent at Archie's Wok.

It is easy: post you story then share it with your Facebook friends… simply click "share" after you post your story and ask them to "like" our FB Page and then "like" your story. (They can comment also.) Whoever has the most "likes" on their story, wins!

The contest runs now through April 20, so this is the time to remember your favorite Archie's Wok story. Whoever has the most "likes" on their story wins the Grand Prize of dinner for 4. From Archie's Wok: Here is a little story of our own to get you started. If the walls could talk, the stories they would tell…

It was mid-December, 1986, about a month after opening Archie's Wok, when the request came in to prepare a table for six for Hollywood director John Huston and his family. Angelica, Tony, Danny, Allegra and Danny's mother Zoe had come south to join him for his last holiday season in Playa Caletas and Puerto Vallarta, before his return to the United States.

The family was collaborating on what was to be his final film, The Dead, from the James Joyce story, with his son Tony writing the screenplay, and daughter Angelica cast in the leading female role. This would be an epiphany for their family.

It was an unusually cold night in Puerto Vallarta, uncomfortable for John, who had been suffering from a medley of pulmonary discomforts. As the family took their places at the table, a chilling, fierce Dublin wind suddenly whipped in through the back window. Like silent dervishes, the family spun around the table to protect their father. They shrouded John in a tablecloth. We tied tablecloths to the grillwork to cover the back window, which could be closed in those days. We served them hot toddies, hot and sour soup…everything hot.

A solemn sense of the impermanence of shared family life, and of life at all, settled in on the family table. The moment was transcendent.

And then it was over. In an unexpected move from another table, Mr. Gary, Sergio's 3rd grade schoolteacher, swooped in like a chattering parrot, overly excited to finally meet his idol, John Huston. John was professionally accommodating, but if looks were deadly weapons, the rest of his family would have finished with Mr. Gary in the blink of an eye. Archie, with professional restraint, smoothly ushered him back to his table, from which he continued to eavesdrop on the Huston family affairs.

So even in our small restaurant, on a cold and windy night, in the relatively unknown Puerto Vallarta of the 1980's, there is no privacy for the famous…
