The Puerto Vallarta Garden Club Meeting will be held on Thursday, March 21, 11:00 am, at the Paradise Community Center.
Our speaker will be Bruce Beckler. Bruce has a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and worked at two different Botanical Gardens in Vancouver, B.C.
He was in charge of the Bloedel Floral Conservatory, the second largest geodesic dome in North America. The Conservatory is one of the most popular attractions in Vancouver and is open daily, rain or shine. It is dedicated to the wonders of the natural world with an emphasis on plants and birds. Over 100 birds of various species call the Bloedel Conservatory home and free-fly within its spacious dome.
He will speak on the topic of pesticide free gardening, the challenge they had to meet when pesticides were banned in Vancouver, B.C. Because federal and most provincial laws do not protect against the risks of cosmetic pesticide exposure, over 170 cities and towns across Canada have passed partial or full bans on pesticide use.
Paradise Community Center is located in Old Town Vallarta at Pulpito 127.
