Gay Business Group Continues to Promote LGBT Tourism in Puerto Vallarta Daniel Gomez - Mijo!Brands

The Gay Working Group known as GEGPV will be hosting a second Events Sub-Committee meeting on Wednesday, March 20, 6:00 pm, at SETAC in Old Town Vallarta. You are welcome to join us.

The second meeting will be bringing together an estimated 20 volunteers that together will head up the organization and planning of a proposed 4 annual LGBT events intended to increase tourism to the city.

The group met for the first time on March 14 to discuss both potential opportunities and roadblocks that a coordinated community could encounter while trying to further develop the LGBT segment.

The fledgling Group was joined by Luis Villaseñor from the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust who spoke of the trust's ability to help coordinate different sectors from within the tourism industry in bringing in high profile events to the city. The meeting lasted 2 hours.

Topics covered included the creation of global LGBT sporting events, peripheral events to take advantage of already existing opportunities in airport hub cities to the destination (including Guadalajara, Monterrey and Mexico City), circuit parties and cultural events.

The tentative dates being considered for this year's pride event include the "Cinco de Mayo" long weekend as well as the end of May to coincide with the hugely successful restaurant week and the city's anniversary celebrations both of which run for the last 2 weeks of the month.

The group will decide on the final concept and date during this week's meeting. All interested in learning more are welcome to join the meeting.
