Governors Roberto Sandoval of Nayarit and Aristoteles Sandoval of Jalisco
Plans are moving ahead to combine the municipal police forces of Puerto Vallarta and Bahia de Banderas in a bid to stop criminals escaping justice.
Municipal Police are often hampered in their pursuit of criminals as they are not permitted to cross the state line at the Ameca River.
For the first time in several years, the governors of Nayarit and Jalisco are members of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI).
Both Aristoteles Sandoval of Jalisco and Roberto Sandoval of Nayarit are keen to loosen laws to enable municipal police officers to venture into neighboring territory, if required.
