What's a CAT-fish????????

December 3rd Catfish Dinner & Movie at Nacho Daddy:

Nacho Daddy is pleased to announce they are hosting a catfish dinner on Saturday, December 3rd from 5:00 to 8:00 pm to benefit PuRR Project. In addition to the ever-popular Fried Catfish, the menu will include Hush Kitties (our version of Hush Puppies!), Calico Cat Slaw and Kitty Kookies. But that's not all! You get your choice of a Meowgarita, a Black Cat (don't cross anyone's path after this one!) or a Cheshire Cat... guaranteed to make you smile! During dinner there will be a showing of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", the classic film starring Liz Taylor & Paul Newman. Your admission qualifies you for a fabulous prize so be sure to put this event on your social calendar.

Volunteers Visit PuRR Sanctuary:
 
A group of "Gato-Lovers" recently caravaned out to visit our shelter. "Dave", our LOYAL weekly visitor, was among the group and has this to say:

"Our visitors had a REALLY, REALLY GOOD TIME. 'My kids' were all over them every time someone stopped or, God forbid, sat down...then they really closed in! The ladies that rode with me were amazed at my little Somi Somi and how she stayed with me for so long a time – she didn't want to leave me until she jumped on the young lady's shoulder – got her attention let me tell you! Everyone went to see the kittens and then the 'teenagers'. After that the 'old' guys from the garden closed in for the kill. They mobbed the visitors' feet as they do me, but the people did not really know what to do but give attention – exactly the cat plan!"

PuRR is looking for volunteers to make weekly trips to our shelter and take along other first time visitors (ride along or caravan behind). If you are interested in giving your time once a week to do this, email us at volunteer@purrproject.com.

Saturday Farmer's Market:

The Saturday Co-OP at the Paradise Community Center on Pulpito has been full of locals and tourists alike, all checking out the many locally made foods and crafts for sale. PuRR volunteers say the new PuRR logo T-shirts (available in white, pink, green & black) have been very popular souvenirs. We also now have PuRR note cards and Christmas cards available...featuring many of the shelter cats. They were designed by photographer and volunteer Jim Pappas. So please come by and see those items as well as homemade Yee Yee Wands and other kitty toys!

This exceptionally beautiful kitten was named Snowflake for the obvious reason...she's snow white! Her Spanish name is Nieve, for snow. Her eyes are sky blue and yes, she's a bit cross-eyed...but who among us is perfect? She is very sociable and like all our kittens, spayed and vaccinated and ready to go to her Forever Home. Most kittens that have grown up in a shelter have the amazing ability to get along well with other animals and make successful adoption candidates. Want to adopt a cat, but you are not in PV? You can "virtually" adopt! Pick one of the beautiful residents or we can select one for you. We will e-mail you periodic updates with photos of your "adopted" feline! You may also want to consider the gift of virtual adoption for other cat lovers in your life!

It was a beautiful fall Vallarta day last Wednesday and the beach was a perfect location for the Caprichoso/PuRR-fect Fall Fashion Show.

The El Dorado served a 3-course lunch and a raffle drawing with amazing gifts donated by local artists and merchants helped bring in enough funds to purchase a month's supply of food and medicines for the more than 250 cats currently at the shelter.

Guitar music was provided by Marco Antonio Gonzalez and photographer Sandra Briones took photos on the "cat-walk". Event coordinator Shannon Campbell, owner of Caprichoso, and shelter director Julie Bunker want to extend heartfelt thanks to all those who attended and especially to the many sponsors, including: Westin Resort & Spa, ColoriZimo Hair Studio, Artepil Spa, Sea Monkey Restaurant, Majahuitas Resort, "R" Salon, De Santos Restaurant, Lucy's Cucu Cabana, D'z Route 66 Diner, Kaiser Maximillan Restaurant, DIVA Salon, LaCiabatta, Marcia Blondin and especially Cassandra Shaw Jewelry.
