As part of a series of strategies that have been developed to boost tourism in downtown Puerto Vallarta, Luis Angarita Mayorga, Deputy Chief Operating Officer of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, Carlos Gerard Guzman, Director of the Municipal Tourism Office and Daniel Gomez, Managing Partner of Mijo! Brands; have launched a new initiative to promote the sculptures on the Malecon.

In order to promote art and culture to Puerto Vallarta residents as well as to improve the visitor experiences, both government agencies sought the advice of Mijo! Brands, an advertising, marketing and brand strategy agency, in providing information on the sculptures on the Malecon and other iconic structures in the city including the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the whale at the entrance of the Marina Vallarta and the new Los Muertos Pier.

On each sculpture, a decal will be placed with the name of the work, its artist, the year it was unveiled and a QR code that mobile device users can scan to access the official tourism website of Puerto Vallarta, VisitPuertoVallarta.com.

The official website of Puerto Vallarta was designed and conceived by Mijo! Brands and the first version was released in October 2010. It currently has over one million visitors per year and has a traffic ranking surpassed only by Mexico's official site, VisitMexico.com. The official Puerto Vallarta Facebook page had 26,000 followers when Mijo! Brands took over the project and after 2 years and several advertising strategies, the number of fans on the page has grown to more than 185,000.

This initiative reflects the efforts of Angarita Mayorga, Gerard Guzman and Mijo! Brands to promote, communicate, and support the art and culture in Puerto Vallarta.

For users who want to access additional sculpture and promotional information from their desktop computer, they may do so at VisitPuertoVallarta.com.

The decals concept was unveiled on Thursday February 7, 2013, at a press conference at 12:00 noon at the seahorse sculpture on the Puerto Vallarta Malecon and was hosted by Carlos Gerard and Daniel Gomez.

The installation of the decals will be completed during the next week.
