Ignacio Cadena confirmed the agreements reached with Aeromexico and Copa Airlines to connect Puerto Vallarta with South America

In the second half of 2013, Copa Airlines will have flights connecting Puerto Vallarta and South America, followed by connecting flights by Aeromexico, as announced by the President of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, Ignacio Cadena.

Although they are still in negotiations with the Network Marketing Agency, 1.5 million dollars was authorized to promote flights connecting Puerto Vallarta with Chile, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay.

The Technical Committee of the Fideicomiso de Turismo achieved an agreement with Aeromexico to have a fee of $150, the same as to Cancun, where the tourists from South America receive the vacation option to Puerto Vallarta.

"We already have a cooperative with Copa Airlines where we invest in the joint promotion of Puerto Vallarta. The agreement is confirmed and will take place in the second half of 2013."

Cadena noted that the expectations of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) which takes place in Madrid, Spain, is an opportunity to promote the destination and do public relations activities, and not so much to attract the European market, which is limited by the air connectivity.

"The biggest thing at Fitur is establishing relationships with the Ministry of Tourism, Claudia Ruiz Masseau, and the Director of Tourism, Rodolfo López, although we don't expect to open negotiations," added Cadena. He reiterated that Fitur is an interaction forum where it is expected to discuss the fact that Puerto Vallarta is not as accessible as Cancun in terms of air connectivity.

In this regard, Cardena said that they should focus on serving tourism from South America and from Mexico City to extend trips to Puerto Vallarta.
