Act II Entertainment has begun presenting Suddenly Sondheim, a musical revue by the brilliant American composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim.

Suddenly Sondheim is a collection of 20 songs taken from different musicals Stephen Sondheim wrote from the time of his collaboration with Leonard Bernstein on West Side Story to the last decade.

Stephen Sondheim is renowned for his contributions to musical theatre. He is the winner of an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards including the Special Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Theatre, multiple Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and the Laurence Olivier Award. His most famous works include A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Company, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Sunday in the Park with George and Into the Woods. He also wrote the lyrics for West Side Story and Gypsy.

Director Elizabeth Ensor and artist-in-residence Robert Maurac have staged a musical journey through the songs of Stephen Sondheim to offer an enjoyable musical experience. Ensor has carefully chosen the songs to reveal the large scope of work of the composer. Some of the songs are old favorites that will enchant the audience, but others, lesser known masterpieces, will enlighten the spectator with their sheer beauty and wit.

Upcoming performances at 7:30 pm will be January 31, February 1, 2, 7, 8 and 9, with the final performance on February 10 at 3:00 pm.
