Second Annual Taste of La Cruz Earns Over 36,000 Pesos for Charities Landon Hollander - InsideLaCruz

Apparently our crowd estimation capabilities are askew, because virtually everyone who had an opinion guessed last year's attendance to the first Taste of La Cruz to be around 1,200 people.

Based on that, we figured to see more folks this year at the second installation. And we did, BUT this time we sold tickets so there is a clear record of how many people passed along the Malecón on Saturday afternoon and that number is 806.

Add an additional 300-400 staff and exhibitors and you have 1,200, but clearly this years' event was more crowded over a larger area (104 exhibitors to last year's 43).

And now that the dust has settled, we can tell you that the event earned just over 36,000 pesos for the four charities (Action for Food, Busca Un Amigo, Junior Sailing Program Travel and Manos de Amor) all of whom were present at the event.

The donations to the individual charities will be done at individual ceremonies over the weeks to come and we will keep you posted.

A very quick note to clear up some misconceptions about some of the charity funds; monies for the Junior Sailing Program will go to an account monitored by the La Cruz Yacht Club and used exclusively for travel expenses (transportation, lodging and food) for the kids in the Program when they are required to travel outside the Bahia to events AND the monies for Action for Food do NOT go into the PEACE general fund as some people have mistakenly assumed, but go instead into a monitored account specifically for the La Cruz program.
