It’s a big dream: A massive complex near the resort of Cancun that would be the largest trading center for Chinese products in the Western Hemisphere. (Maickol Tamayo)
Dragon Mart is a business center, which will be located in the State of Quintana Roo, for Mexican and international expositors where they can offer their products to international customers. It will be a space where entrepreneurs will be able to create trade relations without intermediaries.
The business center project has been postponed many times due to different inconveniences such as natural disasters in September, implementation of the tax reform, new negotiations and agreements with companies and suppliers, among others.
Cancun Dragon Mart will have an average of 700 companies, from China, Mexico, Vietnam, Brazil and Canada, which will offer a wide variety of products, from medical and agricultural equipment to jewelry, including construction materials, electronic devices, toys, food, etc.
Dragon Mart will cost 180 million dollars, with a projection of 3,402 commercial spaces, 722 houses and a Cultural Center.
However, President of Mexico’s Textile Industry National Chamber, Sergio Lopez de la Cerda, mentioned that the Dragon Mart Project will be harmful and destructive for the Mexican and Latin American Industry causing economic losses and unemployment.
