With 95 votes in favor from senators of the PRI, PAN and Green Party and 28 votes against from the PRD, PT [Labor Party], Citizens Movement and two PAN lawmakers, the Senate approved in general, the legislation to reform Articles 25, 27 and 28 of the Constitution and more than 22 transitory articles authorizing contracts with private domestic and foreign companies for the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas.
Minutes before 12 midnight, after a session that passed changes to 3 transitional articles and to the text of Articles of the Constitution, the senators eventually approved the most controversial reform in decades in the energy and electricity fields.
