For 19 days last year, family members of missing migrants from El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Guatemala toured 14 states to talk about the problem and seek clues as to the whereabouts of their missing sons and daughters. (AlJazeeraEnglish)
Mexico used to be a "nice" country, but has become a land "blown to pieces" with clandestine graves, kidnappings, robberies and even rapes of migrants, members of the ninth Caravan of Central American Mothers said on Monday evening upon their arrival in the Federal District [Mexico City], after eight days of touring the country.
"We demand that the government (of Mexico) give us the names of those (migrants) who are prisoners, who are in psychiatric hospitals and in unmarked graves," said Rosa Nelly Santos, of Honduras, who for 17 years searched in Mexico for a nephew whom she raised like a son. She found him in 2010, alive in Tijuana.
Rosa Nelly and the other women participating in the Caravan - about 45 people, mostly mothers - are looking for information that will lead them to locate Central American migrants, sons and daughters who have disappeared in Mexico.
