Deportee Purgatory: Tijuana's 'El Bordo' is home to thousands of Mexican deportees (vice)
Mexicans are today the most deported migrants from the United States with a total of 11,710 minors repatriated without a companion so far this year, warned government sources.
During 2012, 369,492 people were repatriated to Mexican territory from the United States, most of them (125,732) to the state of Baja California, followed by Tamaulipas and Sonora detailed the Legislator of the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party, Maria Fernanda Schoeder.
Facing this situation, the legislator presented an initiative of reform of article 112 of the Migration Law, with the view to make the National Migration Institute immediately channel the unaccompanied child or teen to the National System of Comprehensive Development of the Family.
She said that the minors should be guaranteed the privilege to the stay in one of the shelter provided for the migrant childhood, no matter if they are public or private, and authorized for their safeguard.
According to Schroeder, the issue of migration and repatriation are particularly important when talking about a highly vulnerable sector such as women, children or teenagers, since their condition put in risk the respect to human rights.
