Although the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), through the Tax Administration Service (SAT) announced the precautionary seizure of boats in nine Mexican ports, among them Ensenada, there is no information in the agencies which administer the Port information on this operation.
Neither the Integrated Port Authority nor the harbormaster were informed of this operation, if there were boats seized and of what type they were, fishing boats, cargo, tourist, sport fishing, small boats, yachts or for scrap.
Last week in a statement, the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, through the Tax Administration Service, reported in a press release that in the inspections carried out in matters of foreign trade, during an operation conducted at ports in seven states, they made a precautionary seizure of 338 ships.
The precautionary seizure was the result of distinct search orders to identify the legal origin of 1,691 vessels, to check if they have the necessary documentation for their ownership and stay in the country.
If the requested documentation was not shown, a precautionary seizure of the vessels was made. The ship owners have a period of 10 days to produce evidence and prove they are in the country legally, otherwise there will be a corresponding process carried out over a period of up to four months.
Once again, the federal government confirms its commitment to monitor compliance with tax requirements, customs and foreign trade for the benefit of all Mexicans.
