Seven crew members and passengers traveling on board a Mexican aircraft that illegally entered the Venezuelan airspace on November 4 have finally arrived in Mexico. The individuals had run away prior to the destruction of the plane, the newly designated Mexican ambassador to Venezuela, Leandro Arellano, told the press on Tuesday.

The official would not disclose the names of the people traveling on board of the plane.

Arellano defended the way the Venezuelan authorities acted in the case that led to the Mexico-Venezuela diplomatic impasse after Venezuelan authorities informed the press before using the regular diplomatic channels.

In his statement, the ambassador said the Venezuelan authorities followed the protocol used in such kind of events.
