The Federal Court of Fiscal and Administrative Justice (TFJFA) ordered the Attorney General's Office (PGR) to compensate Ñañús (Otomí) Alberta Alcántara and Teresa González with 1,072,624 pesos [$82,040 USD] each, in order to correct the damage caused by the fabrication of evidence after their having being accused of kidnapping federal police.

In a public session, where representatives of the communications media were given entry, eight of the eleven judges of that court voted in favor of a ruling that will set a fundamental precedent in the country, such that in future cases in which the PGR [Attorney General's Office] abuses its power and accuses innocent people it will be required to repair the economic and moral damage that it caused.

Twenty similar cases are pending before the TFJFA, so it is very likely that in a few months it might establish its own precedent, which will force all the country's regional courts to settle [similar cases] along the same lines.
