The Los Angeles Times Update: The number of bodies discovered at a clandestine burial ground in western Mexico has reportedly risen to 62, and the digging continues.

The number of bodies discovered in mass graves in western Mexico has risen to 42. Five more corpses were exhumed over the weekend from the site.

The bodies have not yet been identified but they are believed to be victims of feuds between drug cartels, and those who got in the way of their dealings.

Only weeks ago, police officers confessed they had helped cartel members with their business, and directed state investigators to the site of several mass graves.
