Over 100 survivors of Tropical Storm Manuel rallied in the central plaza of Chilpancingo on Tuesday to demand that Gov. Ángel Aguirre Rivero provide them with aid, saying that two months after the storm they have still not received any support from the government — not even medical brigades.

Rodolfo Colorado, a spokesman for the protestors who come from the Guerrero municipalities of Acapulco, Chilpancingo, Tixtla, José Joaquín de Herrera, Atoyac and Coyuca de Benítez, slammed the federal, state and municipal governments for their failure to aid survivors of the storm.

“We have visited government agencies like the Social Development Secretariat and the Agricultural, Land and Urban Development Secretariat, we have asked for an audience with the governor and he hasn’t met with us and now a small group of us is here peacefully protesting,” Colorado said, adding that if the government doesn’t respond to their demands, the protestors will escalate their tactics to marches and sit-ins.
