In Mexico, authorities of the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) denounced a website which provides sensitive, personal information of Mexican citizens, according to Mexican website ADN Político.
The website in question, Buscar Datos, was reported to the Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Electoral Crime of the Mexican Attorney General's office since it provided important data on citizens just by inputting their names.
Benito Nacif, provisional President of IFE, explained that among the information provided by the website were the addresses, ages, Unique Population Registry Codes (CURP), voting ID numbers, and Federal Taxpayers Registry (RFC) numbers.
"IFE will continue to evaluate whether further measures are needed beyond the ones we've carried out to guarantee the safety and protection of this data", said Nacif.
IFE officials are willing to cooperate with authorities in the investigations until those responsible for providing the personal data of citizens are found.
