LEÓN, Guanajuato - The priest Alejandro Solalinde held the Catholic Church responsible for keeping the culture of chauvinism alive, especially in the region of the Bajío [central highlands], and he accused the governors of being impostors by "signing little agreements and of saying the everything is alright instead of calling an alert of gender violence".
During a visit to participate in the migration forum in this city, the priest, who defends Central American migrant workers who enter Mexico, frankly stated that the government leaders are influenced by the chauvinism that the Catholic Church keeps alive.
"Think about it for yourselves and you will see that (these government leaders) are Catholics and that as Catholics, they are influenced by this chauvinism", he replied to a question asked about the murders of women.
Today Guanajuato is in first place in the country in statistics concerning feminicide, according to information from civil society, which the government of Guanajuato does not recognize.
