The Mexican Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday it has requested information from Venezuelan authorities regarding an incident involving an alleged Mexican aircraft and Venezuelan military planes.

Caracas reported that the Venezuelan Air Force detected and intercepted on Monday a two-engine Hawker 25 with Mexican registration number (XB-MGM), EFE reported.

The plane was "immobilized" near a village close to the Venezuela-Colombia border, said Vladimir Padrino, the chief of the Armed Forces Operation Strategic Command in Venezuela.

In a statement, the Mexican Foreign Ministry informed that the Embassy of Mexico in Venezuela "issued a diplomatic note requesting clarification on the incident in strict adherence to the international law."

"The Foreign Ministry will be attentive to the answer to this request and has contacted Venezuelan authorities in order to receive the information promptly, and determine who is responsible."
