Al Jazeera's David Mercer reports. (AlJazeeraEnglish)
Mexico's government has cracked down on drug gangs, but people face a rising number of other crimes such as extortion and intimidation.
Even though most of the extortion calls are fake, it has become a big concern for the people many of whom have to pay ransoms.
One group in the capital, Mexico City, has set up a call center to help victims deal with the issue.
