Beginning January 1, 2014, paper invoices (facturas) will no longer be accepted in Mexico. For that reason, the Servicio de Administración Tributaria (SAT) said all businesses which provide invoices must switch to electronic invoices (facturas electrónicas) within the next two months.

Director of SAT, Aristóteles Núñez, advised there are a series of authorized and certified businesses, including SAT, offering their services to produce electronic invoices.

Approximately 14 million businesses nationally will make the switch from paper to the internet when providing invoices for clients beginning next year.
