JUAREZ - More than 2,000 twin plant workers marched in protest Tuesday afternoon, condemning President Enrique Peña Nieto's fiscal reform policy which will raise the sales tax by 5 percent along the border while also eliminating tax exemptions on maquiladoras.

Workers connected to at least 15 manufacturing plants as well as other businesses and civic leaders gathered at "The X" monument to march toward Downtown. They concluded at the intersection of Heróico Colegio Militar Avenue and Costa Rica Street near the Chamizal park.

Some commercial drivers also joined in the demonstration as about 30 tractor-trailers parked behind the monument.

This is the second mass protest in Juárez since Saturday against the tax bill. The bill was approved last week by the House of Representatives. The bill is now in the Senate Finance Committee.
