President Enrique Peña Nieto announced that to date, “An amount exceeding 1.5 billion pesos” has been authorized from the Natural Disaster Fund (Fonden).

To give some idea of the scope of the intense rainfall recorded, the president explained that this September has been the wettest in the past hundred years.

He insisted that for the government, “The most important thing at this time is to save and protect the lives of the people who may still be in risk areas.”

He repeated his instruction to the various secretariats, “To ensure that the supply of provisions, food and clothing, provided by the government and many Mexicans in solidarity with those affected, flows on a regular basis.”

He repeated his gratitude for the support of many Mexicans in the various collection centers set up throughout the country to help those affected.

“One way to help the state of Guerrero is to reactivate the economic activity of the entire state, particularly in this port, which is the main engine of the state’s economy. So visiting Acapulco and returning to Acapulco is a way of helping Acapulco and the whole of Guerrero,” he declared.
