Mexico Unemployment Rate Rises for Third Month RTTNews

The unemployment rate, on an unadjusted basis, moved up to 5.17 percent in August from 5.12 percent in July. In June and May, the figures were 4.99 percent and 4.93 percent respectively. Economists were looking for a jobless rate of 5.3 percent for August.

The underemployment was 8.9 percent in August, up from 8.4 percent recorded in the same month of last year.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the jobless rate was 4.78 percent in August, lower than the previous month's figure of 4.93 percent, data showed.
