Mexico City - The members of the National Coordinating Committee of Education Workers (CNTE) announced that they will resume their protest activities after being evicted from the Zocalo [central plaza] by the Federal Police last Friday.

On Sunday about four thousand teachers marched at 5 PM on Paseo de la Reforma [a main boulevard] to the Stele of Light, accompanied by the Mexican Electricians Union (SME) and students. Around 7 PM, the teachers returned to the Monument to the Revolution, where they are camping this weekend. ... The teachers were protesting that the eviction was violent and unnecessary.

The CNTE announced that on Wednesday at 10:00 AM they will move from the monument, located in Colonia Tabacalera [west of the city center] to the Zocalo in the Historic Center, to reinstall themselves after their eviction prior to the Independence celebrations there.
