MEXICO CITY - The passage of a law in favor of gay marriage uncovered intolerance and violence against such people in this capital, health officials revealed.

Now is more frequent to see in the multiple trauma emergency services of hospitals cases of young people of the same sex who are assaulted after demonstrations of love in public.

For maxillofacial surgery resident at the hospital Lopez Mateos and professor at the Autonomous University of Mexico Eduardo Ortiz, before the law (March 2010), cases of assault were much less and for reasons of passion, but after legalizing gay marriage beatings are only for walking on the street holding hands.

On its website, the newspaper Excelsior dedicated an extensive article to the topic, where it reflects the steady increase in intolerance towards intimate relationships between people of the same sex.

The digital site said that beyond the statements of doctors and specialists, newspapers in 16 states in the nation have been reporting an increasing rise in crimes against homosexuals that in 2012 reached 84.
