LOS CABOS - Former Tropical Storm Lorena has weakened to a tropical depression after dumping rain on the Los Cabos resorts at the tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula.
The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the storm was about 110 miles (175 kilometres) west of Cabo San Lucas early Saturday morning. It had winds of 35 mph (55 kph) but they are expected to fade.
Lorena prompted officials to close schools and shoo tourists away from beaches, but caused little reported damage.
Another storm that entered from the Gulf of Mexico on Friday was causing heavy rains over northeast Mexico. And heavy rains in Mexico City caused hip-deep flooding in some heavily populated neighborhoods.
