The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN), Juan N. Silva Meza, presented the Protocol for Judging with a Gender Perspective, which, he maintained, was a response to the constitutional mandate that obligates judges to promote and respect the right to equality and nondiscrimination.
Before justices of the Supreme Court, council members of the Federal Judiciary, special guests, federal judges and magistrates, Silva Meza explained that this document is intended to “give effect to Mexico’s international commitments to end violence against women.”
The protocol demonstrates with facts the interests of the country’s highest court, he said, to drive decisions based on the rights to equality and freedom from discrimination, in the quest for an effective access to justice for the most vulnerable groups.
