Martin Luther King - I Have A Dream Speech - August 28, 1963 (sullentoys)
This year will mark 50 years since Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. led the March on Washington and delivered his historic “I Have a Dream” speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28, 1963.
As a way to commemorate the 50th anniversary of that historic day, thousands are expected to convene at the nation’s capital this Saturday to march from the Lincoln Memorial to the Washington Memorial. Marchers will pass through the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. Rev. Al Sharpton and King’s son, Martin Luther King III, will lead the march.
The National Action Network, the group organizing the march, said on its website that the march “is not just a commemoration, but a continuation of the efforts 50 years ago.”
The march is only one of the numerous commemorative events that are planned throughout the country in the upcoming days.
