MEXICO CITY - The Head of the Federal District Government [aka Mayor], Miguel Ángel Mancera, assured that the “position” of the Federal District Government is to hold a debate on marijuana legalization, in spite of some of his cabinet members’ opinions.
“The GDF [Federal District Government] reiterates, the debate will happen. If anyone has a doubt or if any cabinet member has contributions, well then, let them make them. We will invite them, but basically, there will be a debate (…). It isn't a cabinet member’s decision; it's a decision that the GDF already made to support the Federal District Legislative Assembly (ALDF) in regard to this debate,” he said.
Purposefully questioning the comments made by the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco Marqués, who rejected legalization, Mancera said that all will be welcomed to discuss it with the intention to “inform ourselves and not just to weave personal speculations.”
