PUEBLA - The new president of the National Conference of Municipalities of Mexico (CONAMM), Leticia Quezada Contreras, announced that she will submit the possibility of supporting the legalization of marijuana in Mexico to consultation by the country's mayors.
"We will be reviewing, consulting with the mayors of the municipalities of the states. Obviously, because of the situation in the country, this is a sensitive issue that could move forward," she said, after taking over from Eduardo Rivera Perez, mayor of this capital city, as president of CONAMM.
She said that the issue will have to be submitted to a plenary meeting of CONAMM so that it can issue a position on this issue that has been raised in other forums [in the federal Congress and Mexico City].
