Rodrigo y Gabriela- "Hanuman" from 11:11 (Rodrigo y Gabriela)

Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero, both from Mexico, have known each other for 25 years, and have been performing together for 15. Their music can be heard on the 2011 soundtracks to “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” and the animated film “Puss in Boots.”

Rodrigo y Gabriela’s style of playing the guitar lightning fast is a technique that took years to develop, but Sanchez says it wasn’t planned. “We get a shot of adrenalin when we play the way we play, and that’s what we developed in a natural way,” he says from a tour stop in Houston.

“I guess that’s a little bit from the heavy metal influence,” he continues. “It’s an energetic kind of music. And we are both a little bit hyperactive.”
