Three Dreamers did what many consider the unthinkable. These Dreamers crossed the border into Mexico earlier this month and requested to come back to the United States on Monday.
They brought with them five other undocumented immigrants who either left the U.S. or were deported recently. Also with them is a 13-year-old U.S. citizen being accompanied by his mother who went back to Mexico after her husband was deported several years ago.
As of Monday night, they were detained and sent to the Florence Detention Center located in Arizona. It is unclear whether they’ll be allowed to stay in the country. Supporters have been asking people to call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to ask that the agency release the Dreamers into the U.S. by granting their request for humanitarian parole
The two groups leading the action — National Immigrant Youth Alliance and DREAM Activists — have organized civil disobedience actions in the past but never anything like this.
