SAN CRISTÓBOL, Guanajuato - Former President Vicente Fox said that Mexico "will continue playing the fool" if it keeps up the fight against drugs with violent force.

In introducing the program of the symposium with experts and legislators from the United States and Mexico, Fox said that he is not going "after the business or the money" that the drugs could represent, and he has no personal interest in promoting legalization, since he lives very well on his pension as a former president.

Fox and former Microsoft executive Jamen Shively, organizers of the forum that begins this Friday [July 19, 2013] at the Fox Center, flatly refused to disclose the cost of the event, which will bring together physicians, advocates, legislators and analysts from both countries to discuss legalization of marijuana. They insisted that this is not a campaign on behalf of legal use, but "of seeking international solutions to an international problem".
