MEXICO CITY – President Enrique Peña Nieto said that the Monday arrest of drug kingpin Miguel Ángel Treviño, leader of the brutal Zetas cartel, showed that his administration was on the right path in combating organized crime. Peña Nieto added that the full results of his public safety strategy should be seen within a year. Treviño, also known as Z-40, was captured in an early morning raid on Monday near his hometown of Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas.

The Marines also seized a weapons cache and more than $2 million in cash.
