In the last chapter of his book "The 2012 Presidential Campaign", Luis Costa Bonino, a former adviser to Andrés Manuel López Obrador, breaks his silence about what happened inside the 2012 presidential campaign. He points out that about a month before the July 1st election, the Progressive Movement's candidate remained without a strategy and committed various errors.
"López Obrador is a social fighter, but he is not a politician. He distrusts power, he fears it, he does not want to be President. He just likes the crowds, the hugs, the applause, the speeches. He is a very good candidate, but a disastrous strategist. He is a conductor of the masses, the crowds. His essential objective is to try to demonstrate an absolute moral superiority over all other politicians in Mexico. For him, that aspiration to moral superiority is more important than the Presidency," maintains Bonino on his blog.
