On Sunday, Miss Connecticut was crowned Miss USA 2013, but a group of former Miss USA winners stole some of that spotlight in the name of PETA’s anti-fur campaign.

It has been a long-standing tradition that women on the pageant circuit are often offered fur and other animal products.

Unhappy with the practice, former winners Susie Castillo (2003), Shanna Moakler (1995), Alyssa Campanella (2011), and Shandi Finnessey (2011) teamed up with PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) to declare people “Feel Beautiful in Your Own Skin, and Let Animals Keep Theirs.”
