| Guillermo Adames: The Most Worrying Sickness of the Mexican Population Guillermo Ramon Adames y Suari - PVNN | |

This is not an article on medicine; this is an article which intends to describe why Mexicans don't do much.
The major sickness of Mexico is TALKING. It is absolutely unbelievable the amount of talking that is produced by the average Mexican. Everybody talks and everybody wants to talk and to be noted and everybody wants to be quoted on Facebook and Twitter. To end up with, everybody talks as if it were a survival need. The amount of time spent in talking is huge.
Take the President: At what time does he work? He goes left, right and center every day and there are "declarations" at every single place of how we are evolving... positively, of course!!
Then take the Senators: the very same thing, and there are the pictures and there are the interviews that journalists pick at first class restaurants (taking their time from their private lives but this effort is for Mexico!)...and the same thing goes for Congressmen and Governors and political parties' directors, Ministers and you name it.
Everybody is in the game and everybody talks talks. As if you would not talk, you would die. Published phrases glorify the party in power of the people in "good terms" with power and we all live in a beautiful world. And, again, it is stressed and repeated in Facebook and Twitter.
Now let's take the Mexican journals: They are an extension of this talk talk. They are filled with all these discourses and talks (again as if ten times were not enough) and pictures and "important political activities."
But Journals are not filled with "achievements" or "accomplishments" for the country or for the people. Only declarations and talks of how well the politics go ahead... The leftovers of the journal are filled with strikes, murders and a couple of strippers half the way naked and the never ever missing football news.
Culturally, the intellectual events are reserved to a certain elite (?) and are not openly published, if you don't know, you do not belong to the "elite."
For that matter, nobody belongs to the "elite." With sadness, cultural events have very few people attending because few people know about them. In a city with 30 million people, all events would be not only full...packed.
But instead, people talk talk.
Now the question is single: What can we build with a country that only talks talks? Don't take me wrong: The whole of Latin America is like that too but not like Mexico. So: what is that paralyzes our activity? Our creativity? Talk talk.
What also happens is that people talk but most times they talk hand-truths...or half lies, whichever suits you best. You have to do with it. For example, a politician is bound to declare "savings" when he did not do his job correctly or completely. He might declare: "at the completion of my administration I left the amount of X due to savings." He will not declare that the amount in question was, for example, assigned to build a bridge or whatever, and that the bridge in question simply was never built. So, he "saved."
Also, you can hardly believe any government figures. Yet figures are precise. Government declarations on the very same problem that re provided by different agencies often differ in their numbers. The amounts of dead bodies are not the same when disclosed by different government agencies. Figures might come from the federal police or the internal state's police, yet it is still the police: which one should one believe? Examples go from accidents to demonstrations to amounts to any simple figures.
So, on one hand, we have the talk talk and on the other, that talk talk is half true....
