How would you feel about having to pay a traveler's tax every time you cross the border to the United States? That could become a reality.
The Department of Homeland Security wants a study on tolls for people walking and driving into the United States from both Canada and Mexico. The "crossing fee" came up in a budget request.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano stressed that there needed to be new ways of finding revenue at the border and in her written statement, she says the border processes some 350 million travellers each year.
