MEXICO CITY – President Enrique Peña Nieto is one of the 100 most influential people of 2013, according to Time magazine.
Time published its annual power list last week, dividing people into Breakouts, Pioneers, Moguls, Leaders and Icons.
Peña Nieto joined 22 other influential leaders including North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, recently-elected Pope Francis, South Korean President Park Guen-hye and U.S. President Barack Obama.
Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson wrote Time’s summary of Peña Nieto, saying the president has “boatloads of charisma, a quick grasp of the issues and a self-deprecating humorous side.”
Richardson went on to praise the achievements of Peña Nieto’s administration, citing the “Pact for Mexico” and education reforms as important steps for the country.
